Additionally, Canada benefits from having a growing pool of highly skilled workers who will be able to fill vacancies in the domestic labor market and the presences of foreign students enhances the experiences of Canadian students offering different cultural approaches and interpretations to the learning environment.
It was hoped that those who have been studying in Canada, would become leaders, contacts, business partners and scholars of Canada when they returned to their countries of origin enhancing Canadian public diplomacy. International Education has proven to be a successful approach. Yet, in spite of the positive outcomes obtained by international education, when compared to states like the US, it would seem that Canada still needs to make improvements on its education programs.
According to the British Council survey carried out in the year , young people from twenty-eight countries were asked to rate the quality of education in five different countries that are well-known for accepting foreign students. Although the survey was carried out in the year , the information has some significance, the gap presented in the survey clearly outlines the fact that Canadians need to improve the quality of their education in order attract more foreign students to enhance their public diplomacy.
But with the United States as its neighbor, it may be difficult for Canada to enhance its public diplomacy through International Education. Chapter 5. Nonetheless, during the twentieth century, China has attempted, in varying shapes and forms, to portray what it has seen as a positive image of itself internationally. China has done this in varying ways including the publication of the English language China Daily newspaper in most countries of the world, which prints stories portraying the Chinese government and their policies in a positive light, emphasizing Chinese co-operation in the affairs of the international community. The Beijing Olympics showed that China had the organisational capabilities to hold a high profile global event and was enthusiastic about advocating the Olympic virtues of international co-operation and fair play.
These are often set up in the universities of foreign countries and run courses along the lines mentioned. It is clear that China is attempting to project a positive and friendly image of itself on the world stage and show that it is rising peacefully. It is well known that London is like a magnet for Russian dissidents and billionaires. For the matter of that, the City has been the destination of the elite and the wealthy for the centuries.
